Artist Statement

As a creator, I bring life to a piece of art and perpetuate history. I earn a living by working with my hands and mind, creating a link with the past and transmitting values that are important to conserve in society. The process of my art is the same as it was centuries ago; utilizing carving tools, a wooden mallet, a pencil, a paper, a workbench, and various kinds of wood.

As a full-time artist, I seek to achieve artistic excellence and recognition, while sharing my knowledge.  Additionally, I aspire to have more prestigious national and international opportunities.

Some of the figures were shipped out of United States. The horse documented here was a commission for the Royal Caribbean  Cruises for a ship in France.

Black walnut

The figures are hand carved replicas for a restoration project in Cleveland, OH.  They are columns for a fireplace mantle.
In order to make the replica, I used historical documentation of the original pieces as references.  To have a better idea of the dimmensions  and similarity to the original figures, I made a preliminary model using clay.
Over 220 hours went into this project. It was a commission by a private client as part of a home restoration project.
